Day 85: Tall Building with Cats
The challenge I took on for today from Noah Scalin’s book was to make something as tall as possible that would stand on it’s own. This project was also inspired by watching this TED Talk with cut paper artist Béatrice Coron.
This project actually took 3 days to complete. The first two days were drawing the pattern and cutting. The last day was spent gluing one layer to the next and letting it dry. Then gluing and waiting again. I had so much fun doing this. The finished building is about thigh high.
Wow!! This is a wonderful piece!
Thanks!
It appears much larger than thigh high? Trick photography??? Either way, I love it.
Each window is pretty little, like the size of a thumbnail or two. Maybe that’s why it looks big? And I got down low to take the picture because it was prettier with the blue sky behind it vs the brown field. Maybe that’s why? I don’t know. And thank you! :)
I love it but thigh high??
Okay, I’m home again and it is officially butt high. :) Glad you liked it!
Fun! Love it. It is really creative and unexpected. It does appear to be very tall, but it is super period…
it’s amazing *_____*
Thank you!
That’s beautiful – I would use it as wall decoration at home!
Thank you! Hubby and I were debating on where to display it. As a wall hanging is still in the running.
Wow, the way you took that picture really makes it look huge! But considering how small the windows are I’m quite impressed by how you managed to cut all those shadows. (I’d definitely make it a kind of wall decoration! :))
Thank you. I do need to find it a better place to live – it is just tucked next to my desk at home right now.
Fantastic!
Thank you so much!
